Our story
Our story begins in the summer of 1969, when a young entrepreneur, Vince Lockwood, founded, with little cash or experience, a start-up contract cleaning business in Johannesburg, South Africa. With little more than a pick-up truck, a few labourers, and a couple of vacuum cleaners, Prestige Cleaning Services was born. From these humble beginnings Prestige continued to grow, eventually being acquired in 1993 by the Bidvest group. Prestige now employs over 30’000 staff, operates in four continents and is publicly listed on the JSE.
Having sold Prestige, Vince moved to the UK where he, together with his son Richard, set up what would become Cleanright Ltd. In 2005 Vince’s nephew, Simon Duke, now a Director in the business, joined the company. Whilst we continue to evolve and progress we remain focussed on earning our reputation as a trusted and attentive contract-cleaning partner. Over the past 5 years, this commitment to our customers has seen us grow by over 240%.
